What are Food Additives?

Food additives are any substance added to food that works on changing any of its features. In other words, they are substances deliberately added to a food at any of its stages from production to consumption in order to conserve and maintain sensual and natural properties.

The Laboratory analyzes numerous food additives that include:

  • Food and juice preservatives
  • Industrial  food coloring
  • Sulfur dioxide in dried fruit
  • Oxidation additives in oils
  • Sudan dyes
  • Nitrates.
